Let me tell you about this place. Cayo in spanish translates to “caye” which means “land surrounded by water.” This area is surrounded by rivers and waterfalls. Not only do we have abundance of water sources, we are surrounded by jungle, caves and wildlife. This farm was once an ancient maya terraced farmland.  Then, the jungle took over.  6 years ago, we found this beautiful spot introduced by a local maya man, and something inside said “this is where we need to be”.  This is where we need to grow fruits and vegetables, and cultivate native plants and use healing native plants.  So with tents as our shelter and machete as our main tool, we started.  Now, after 6 years we have settled into this jungle to call this land our “home” and we want to welcome you.
